Federation Tower is a complex consisting of 2 skyscrapers, which is built on the 13th site of the Moscow International Business Center (MIBC) in Moscow City. The two high-rise buildings are named Tower East and Tower West.
Architectural concept of the Federation Tower
The project was designed by renowned architect Sergey Choban and German professor and engineer Peter Schweger. The complex was designed by the architectural bureau SAA Schweger Architekten.
Construction of the complex began in 2005, and the West Tower was the first to be completed in 2008, with a height of 242 meters. Then the construction of the complex was suspended until August 2011, the “East” tower was completed on December 7, 2017, its height is 374 m.
At the end of 2014, Vostok surpassed the height of the South Tower of OKO, which is also part of the MIBC, becoming the tallest skyscraper in Russia and Europe. It was also supposed to build a spire that would have increased the height of the complex to 450 meters and also provided an observation deck, but it was never completed and was later dismantled.

Construction of Federation Tower East
Construction of the high-rise began in 2005.
By mid-May 2008, the height of the tower reached approximately 170 meters. In November 2008, the construction of the skyscraper was suspended due to lack of funding.
On July 5, 2011, Potok Construction Company announced that construction of the tower had resumed. As of March 30, 2012, the 67th floor of the East Tower was completed, and glazing work on the tower was also underway.
On December 18, 2014, construction of the East was completed when the skyscraper reached its planned height of 374 meters. The completion caused a media frenzy as the tower became the tallest building in Russia and Europe, surpassing the height of the OKO Tower.

The construction cost of Federation Tower in Moscow City amounted to $1.2 billion, Mikhail Smirnov, CEO of Federation Tower CJSC, told journalists.

Who owns the skyscraper?
The complex in Moscow City is owned by AEON Corporation, a Russian private international investment group. The complex consists of two towers erected on a common stylobate.
The owners of the two premises are Nikolay Kargaltsev’s Esste JSC. He owns a co-working space just on the 35th floor of the tower. According to RIA Novosti, from 2008 to 2011, Kargaltsev worked as general director of Gazprom Sulphur, which sold sulphur from Gazprom enterprises on the domestic market.
